Too Much Ai? Grok, Devin, Open AI, and Google AI Projects.

TEch Stuff Daily? Entry 3 - The Age of Generative AI

Bismillah

In today's entry, let's discuss some of the current AI software in the market and give an overview of each, which we'll then go into more detail in subsequent blogs and videos.

Open AI Projects

  1. Chat GPT and GPT-4

Chat GPT is a prompt AI tool that many students, researchers, and everyday users utilize for various tasks.

With a variety of input options ranging from image to text, their latest iteration, GPT-4, is currently the most accurate and safe prompt AI tool iteration engineered by Open AI.

It is worth noting that to access GPT-4 you'll have to upgrade your plan to a paid subscription, as opposed to using Chat GPT on a free plan, which gives you access to GPT 3.5 capabilities.

  2. DALL.E

DALL.E is a generative AI project by Open AI, that generates realistic-ish images as described by a user as a prompt.

They do offer two versions at the moment:

-> DALL.E 2: This is the free version that is open to all.

-> DALL.E 3: This is only accessible by upgrading to Chat GPT Plus.

  3. Sora

Sora is an AI tool that can generate realistic-ish videos from text descriptions. As of when this article was published, Open AI is still training Sora to simulate reality in videos with more accuracy. You can read about this project on their website for more context.

xAi Projects: Grok

xAI, a company by Elon Musk, has developed Grok, a prompt AI tool designed "to answer almost anything and even suggest what to ask."

The tool is only available to X Premium Plus subscribers, meaning as of this time I have not had the opportunity to check it out yet("brokie!!", haha).

Devin: The AI Software Engineer

Dubbed "the thief of Software Engineering jobs", Devin is a software engineering AI tool that has been marketed to perform full-on software engineering tasks, from building websites and using software engineering tools, as well to googling for solutions when it comes across an error!

It has been showcased as being able to perform freelance tasks on freelance developer platforms and is the most hated AI tool among my peers!!

Google AI Projects

  1. Gemini

Gemini is a text-based prompt tool by Google, similar to most of the ones Engineered by Open AI and xAI(I think), that gives responses based on a prompt given by the user, as shown in the image above.

  2. AI Experiments on Google Labs

All the tools discussed in this section are in their experimental stages and may contain errors in execution:

-> ImageFX: An AI prompt tool that transforms text into images.

-> Google search powered by Generative AI: designed to give the user more information on a topic by including features such as follow-up questions for topics and including a reference to the discussion.

You get to ask Google more questions within the same topic you're looking into conversationally!

-> AI Tools in Google Chrome: as of January 2024, Google Chrome was updated to include AI features to assist its users with organizing tabs, customizing their browsers, and writing on the web.

-> NotebookLM: with most prompt tools giving you information from their sources, NotebookLM allows you to use information you trust, by uploading documents and papers you'd like to get information from.

Whether you're working on an academic project, or you need to consume as much information as possible on previous meetings to prepare for some task at work, NotebookLm's got you covered - I think so... I would try it for you but it's only available for users in the US(bombastic side eye emoji).

-> MusicFx: allows you "to describe a musical idea and have it come to life" for you! Not the most accurate AI but we understand it's experimental.

-> Say What You See: An educative AI tool to help you improve your prompting skills by "saying what you see" from a generated image, after which the tool compares your description to the actual prompt. The process is gamified to keep it fun!

-> Gemini for the Google Workspace: an AI-powered personal assistant in Google Workspace to help with your research and organization tasks.

-> More tools: Google has at least six more experiments that you can check out and try out on their experimental platform available to the general public.

What's The Point?

Well, a lot is going on at the moment with AI, and particularly Generative AI. The point is to get you some tools that will make your work easier, or maybe even make your work easier so they can move you to another human-friendly role( get rid of you), who knows?

It's been an honor educating you today.

Asalaam Aleykum!
